Fire watch is a temporary safety measure in which trained personnel physically monitor a building for signs of fire when its fire protection systems are not fully working. When a fire alarm, sprinkler system, or fire panel goes offline, most fire codes require a human replacement to watch the property until the system is restored. Knowing what fire watch is, and when the law demands it, protects the people inside your building and keeps you compliant with local fire authorities.
